Star Witness!!!

johnny chizzon

One of the most impressive trials I have seen in a very, very long time could be in for a massive spring.. Caulfield Guineas written all over him.

Watch the trial at the below link!

Great performance overnight..
Brilliant horse who beat one of the better line-up of sprinters from around the world
Can't nock the champion status of this horse now, Mr Obriens comments after the race were very intesting, seeing him so excited about a horse after the calibre of horse he has trained over the years

Bring on the July Cup!!

3y/o

After the sensational 3 yo we have seen so far who do you think will take it to the next level?

For me the two with the most upside would be starspangledbanner and so you think

thoughts?

One of the worst group one races i have seen in a while. i think only two have ever won a group one while two others have placed in a group one as 2 year olds. nothing more then a listed race group 3 at the best. Mr Baritone should be winning this, orange county has thbe bad barrier. masked assassin as my roughie

Golden Slipper 09!

johnny chizzon

with the early market just released what are your early selections for the slipper? although theres still alot to unfold, the 2y/o that i like so far are

rostova, awesome win down the straight, great form out of that race, she isnt nominated for the slipper but looks to be in it up to her ears, 17/1 currently isnt too bad.

Starspangledbanner would be my first choice however i think the diamond will be his go and i dont like horses set for the blue diamond then comming up for the slipper. He's 51/1 so regardless ill have a little go.

the other horse i am very ken on is bawaardi, huge run behind starspangledbanner at the valley, bigger track 1200+ will be his go, 51/1 seems very appealing.
Poor bugger is injured again, joint problem wont race again this year, probably puts him in doubt to ever race again.. tragic, loved him but the owners have had a good run with him, time to retire him

Marasco

johnny chizzon

Looking at the field, Marasco should be the bet of the year..

If he is as good as everyone says he should not have a problem winning this race.. nothing is a certainty in racing, but this is about as close as you get...

If he cant win this race fred should give up on his melbourne campaign and take him back to perth get him right so he can win the railway

THE WEEKEND IS WAS!

johnny chizzon

finally this weekend of racing can put to rest the thoughts of our current crop of horses..

Pompeii Ruler is a the next super star of racing, he has taken the next step and is in a leauge of his own, any wfa race is at his mercy from now on.

Marasco is a dead set star, i dont know what happened in his run, but we all saw how he finished off his race, with a nice spell and some more education he will be a force to be reckoned with in his next campaign

The most exciting thing about these two horses is that they are still only lightly raced and will provide us with some excitment over the years to come..

The 3 ladies of the turf, miss andretti, miss finland and gold edition all took a step to the next level today. Miss Finland is one of the best 2/3 yo fillies we have ever seen, she has backed up all her hype by preforming on the race track, unlike haradasun who today proved he is not the horse many ppl thought he was.

Miss andretti, well what can you say, she is a star, i dont think we will see a horse do what she has done for many years to come and i am greatfull to be around to see such a horse achieve the success she has, i hope the owners decide to keep her in the game for a few more years, she could build a record that would see her become one of the greatest sprinting mares of all time..

Gold edition showed that she is not just a classy 3y/o that beats her own age and sex easily, her run was huge stepping up in open class for the first time and she has plenty more wins under her belt..

As for El segundo, well he just isnt as good as we thought he was, he has struggled to take the step to the next level by winning big races and i think he has given up his opportunity, as it will only get harder for him here on..

My horse to follow would be vanquished, there is a good win in him very soon..
After following the postings on this site for the past few months i have been considering the comments made about the current group of horses.

Many ppl are saying that we are lacking depth in our wfa ranks, none of the current bunch would have been competitive with our past superstars such as sunline, lohnro, northerly, the diva ect...

Whist i agree that we have no superstar at the present time, i believe that horses such as desert war, el segundo, marasco, eremein and gun 3yo efficient and miss finland would be too far off our last crop of stars.

Obviously none of these horses can be mentioned in the same breath as the sunlines and northerly's, there's nothing to say they are not as good as horses such as fairway or who beat sunline, or horses such as freemason and old comrade who beat northerly.. we weren't bagging those horses when they beat our superstars of the turf, and our current bunch would have been able to beat any of those horses on there day..

I think we are just missing that horse who is 2 or 3 % better then the rest. our current crop arent that bad and the constant posts saying they are rubbish i believe are unjust..

any thoughts??

Serenade Rose

johnny chizzon

I thought she may struggle against open class as she never beat much when she won her 3yo races, although it is hard to know where she is at this preperation as she hasn't had the best of luck.... is she another 3yo filly that doesn't take the next step or should we give her another chance??
