Northam track

RQ

Saw on another website that the Northam track in trouble with the first meeting in early May being transferred.

Read with bemusement leading trainer bagging Pinjarra track in paper today.

There is a real problem in WA emerging where industry participants are vocally criticising all and sundry. And this in a time when racing in WA has never been better.

One trainer who has enjoyed considerable success as a trainer, never stops bagging the local industry and yesterday bagged the Pinjarra track as a dissgrace.

Yet he constantly races horses on the Northam track during the winter which is an absolute goat track and from experience is littered with holes.

A few years ago a horse of mine raced there and lost a specially made shoe in running, so after the last me and the trainer went looking for it. We were astonished by the 'craters' in the track.

Never here him bagging Northam and he probably hasnt even walked that track.

Pinjarra might have had problems yesterday but doesnt deserve to be labelled disgraceful

Stewards decision

RQ

Now I dont like TVN with its monotonous replays and inept hosts but I was watching this afternoon because of the sales crosses (which by the way where pathetic).

But I happened to be watching Race 8 from Terang and watched countless replays of the head on.

The horse that lost the race on protest hardly moved from its line and marginally brushed the original runner up.

The original runner up had the length of the straight to run it down and couldnt.

If that is the standard of officialdom in Vic we are in big trouble.

I think it's absolutely disgraceful and an injustice.

Where's McAullay

RQ

Lately Darren Mac Aullay has been missing in action. Called yesterday at Ascot and not the big sprint at Pinjarra today.

Richard Bell doing it today and just not the same, they are very big fields and he is struggling to get through the field once.

Bring back Macca.

Brockman's Lass

RQ

Great to see this filly win.

Inspirational story behind it and well done to the Slades.

Helenus Firing Blanks

RQ

Big story in WA is that Helenus is having fertility trouble early in stud career.

Reportedly only one mare in foal from nearly 10 covered. Booked mare owners being informed as we speak.

Starcraft in Cox Plate

RQ

Starcraft is a sensational race but will he handle Moonee Valley.

Im not an expert on Starcraft but being such a big horse will he struggle to handle the way the race will be run and the track itself.

At Flemington he would be favourite for mine but a risk at MV.

Great horse but is he a risk at MV.

Better than Northerly, Yeh right.

RQ

Well we patiently waited, we waited for the second coming and what did we get nothing but a whimper.

A very good horse he is but no champion, no Kingston Town, no Sunline, no Northerly and no better than Defier.

He is a 'cotton wool champ', what else does he need;
* weakest Cox Plate in memory
* race run to suit
* just 8 runners
* shortest priced favourite in 40 years
* cant get over a horse coming back from injury

Better than Northerly, you have gotta be kidding, he wouldnt blow wind up his a###.

But the best is that Wayne Hawkes is again shown up, what job would he have if it wasnt for his old man.

Sweet justice.

Northerly injured

RQ

Probably already know but Northerly injured a tendon and his future in doubt.

More information on Perth radio, will keep you informed.

Jason Oliver Trubute

RQ

I attended JO'S funeral yesterday and was staggered at the number of people who were present.
The number of Eastern States racing people who attended was tremendous. In the middle of the carnival 8 or more Victorian jockeys flew over. Steven Arnold, Jason Patten, Neville Wilson were amongst them.
As well Lee and Richard Freedman, Brian Markovic and Mark Pilkington were all there and I was told many leading Eastern States club officials also attended.
It is an example of the great respect that people have for their fellow industry participants. Those that flew to Perth are to be commended for a remarkable gesture of support to the Oliver family.
I salute those that came to pay their respects and it renews your faith in humanity.
Farewell JO you were a great character so full of life.
