In the big one I can't go past 3. HAPPY ZERO. Was very unlucky in The All Aged when held up for a run.

Get on 12. DARTH in race 2. Close to a win at the moment. Was very unlucky over the road at Doomben back in May.

Good luck tomorrow at Eagle Farm. I will be track side. I'll be the guy who's always around the back of the bookmakers stand collecting.

FREE Saturday SPECIALS

WhiteGoodman

OK here we go.
Iv'e been analysing all week and have come up with 3 SPECIALS running today at Caulfield.

Race 6: Lord PYRUS. Unlucky last start, can make ammends today.

Race 7: General Offer: Suited to this going and immpressive last start.

Race 8: Miss Matari: The two furlongs suits. Is ready to win today.
I consider Barts's runner a risk in the race.
With all the speed drawn the outside my race map has him 4 back on the rail inside Trusting.
I believe he'll have to get up on the rail to get through the usual Cox Plate 'wall' coming around the bend.
My ratings only came back online yesterday after a melt down a couple of weeks back. But I've rush the figures in with a couple of surprises.
Best bet?
'The skipper' Captain Sonador
Each way SPECIAL?
Zipping
Risk?

Box Quinella SPECIAL

WhiteGoodman

I have been working my numbers ratings all week and have come up with a ratings SPECIAL.
I don't normally dabble with exotics but here we go:
Syd. Race 6 Box Quinella:
1. THESEO
8. MORE JOYOUS

We should get some quality VALUE with this selected exotic bet.
I am looking forward to putting together a nice Epsom SPECIAL next week.

KNOCKOUT in the Underwood

WhiteGoodman

Hello.
I read every post every week but rarely post myself.
I have a SPECIAL running in the Underwood tomorrow at Caulfield.
I don't know if anyone noticed BUCCELLATI's run in the Memsie last start.
I have my own personalised ratings.
I gave her a 126 from her Memsie run.
So You Think was a 124.
Look at the price difference.
Look at the track condition last start.
Look at the barriers tomorrow.
Look at yourself.
BUCCELLATI is the one.

New Initiatives

WhiteGoodman

With all the talk about handicapping recently I got to thinking about alternatives.
I was watching the trots on Monday night and thought to myself, would the starting system they employ work in horse racing.

I mean with the horses and drivers 'schooling' behind the start car and the race starting when the car releases the gates.

In a horse race you could put the older more seasoned horses in the back row and the younger horses in the front line.
In my opinion this would be a far fairer system.

Imagine the excitement seconds before a Cox Plate for example, with all the horses schooling up behind the start car waiting for the moment of release.
What do you guys think?
Lets ignore the two favs for a second and flash back to a hot Brissy cup 5 months ago.
One of the horses in that race (I thought) ran the race of the winter carnival to finish a couple of lenghts behing the 'winner'.

No idea who I'm talking about?

Back in distance. In form jockey. In form trainer. Nice price.

Sir Slick.

handicapping

WhiteGoodman

With all the talk today about Scenic Shot getting a rediculous weight to carry in the Brisbane Cup, it got me thinking about alternatives to handicapping.
One could be to give the younger or inexperienced horses a head start.
For example, on Saturday Scenic Shot could start 50m behind the other horses.
One hinderance could be getting the barriers for the other horses out of the way before Scenic Shot made up the 50m. But I don't see that as a huge worry.
Thet do it successfully in the Stall Gift. They don't ask the fastest runner to carry weights on his back.
Think of how exciting the Melb. and Cauf. Cups would be with this system?

Swick

WhiteGoodman

I copped a gob full when I stated on Thursday that Swick would win this years Stradbroke. I can accept that.
But when people start questioning my own personal ratings that's when I draw the line. I will not stand idoly by and have my reputation dragged through the mud.
I take 4 factors into account when deliving my ratings:
- saddle cloth worn by the horse
- how wide it was off the fence in its last run
- my own rating out of 10 for the jockey
- how close the horse's box is to the moounting yard (this can be a big factor on big race days)
Throw criticism at me and I'll throw back at you the winners I have selected on this site.

I have just completed 3 weeks of tabulating ratings and have come up with my pick a week and a half early to give you all time to get on with me at fixed odds.
I rate the Melbourne autumn form as superior this year. The southerners have clearly dominated our big races thus far.
Watching and tabulating statistics of the recent sprints the majority of winners have come from the back and I feel this will continute in the Stradbroke.
When you go through the recent winners most have been experienced sprinters from good stables.
My 2009 Stradbroke selection is Swick.
It ticks all the boxes to take out the race.
I have it rated 92 on my ratings with Mr Baritone and Court sitting on 88.
