New Zealand-bred colt Apiata looks very promising, winning in good style here on debut. He was ridden patiently by Dwayne Dunn and settled back in eighth place, between runners, following a good tempo before getting a split on turning for home. He dashed to the front at the 200m and then drew away to score comfortably. It was a smart effort and he is a horse to watch.
