The Nigel Blackiston-trained filly Amarela did very well to win here on debut. The staying-bred filly did not show much early pace and was near the tail of the field before being shuffled back to last in the 11-horse field at the 700m as the pace slackened. She angled between runners on turning for home, saving ground, put in a strong run to challenge nearing the 100m and then finished too well showing a good turn of foot for a narrow but impressive win. She will appreciate further and is a very promising filly.
