The Tony McEvoy-trained colt Vinland scored a really promising first up win. Resuming after finishing sixth behind She Will Reign in the Inglis Nursery (RL, 1000m) at Randwick in December, he was well away from barrier seven and soon settled nicely outside the leader. He easily went to the front on straightening and then went on to score impressively and in good time (1:22.91). He looks to have a good future and is a horse to watch.
