Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt Russian Revolution scored good win here on debut, albeit on protest. He showed good early pace before settling outside the leader (Diamonds Are). He briefly looked beaten when the leader got a break at the 200m. But he lifted, challenged late before striking interference in the latter stages and was then awarded the race after being second past the post. He looks smart and is a horse to watch. The Gai Waterhouse-trained Diamonds Are went to the front, looked the winner when clear at the 200m. He then ran about a bit in the closing stages, holding on to be first past the post but was relegated to second on protest. He too staged a bold effort on debut, looking a talented juvenile with a good future.
