The Darren Weir-trained colt Trust In A Gust ($2.90 favourite) has now won five of his eight starts. He began well and Damien Oliver eased him to get an ideal trip, third on the rails. He was asked to improve as the pace quickened rounding the home turn, got a split between runners at the 250m, took the lead at the 100m and went to the post nicely to win by half a length. Churchill Dancer was seventh between runners to the turn, finally got into the clear nearing the 100m and the then ran on well for a good second. Outsider This Is The Show ($67) was fifth on the rails to the turn and kept fighting surprisingly well in the straight for an encouraging third at his first metropolitan run in his five-run career. *ANZ
