War Point resumed after his debut eighth in stakes class at Moonee Valley in March to win nicely here. The Mick Price-trained colt crossed from a wide barrier (9) to settle outside the leader, travelling at a moderate tempo. He was under riding to take the lead shortly after straightening but he responded well going on to win quite nicely by a half neck. Shintaro was third on the rails, got an inside run at the 200m and battled on for second while the David Hayes-trained filly Western Desert enjoyed a good trip in fourth place, challenged on turning for home and then held to take third. *ANZ
