Team Hawkes-trained three-year-old gelding Groundbreak was quite impressive in winning here. Having his fifth race start and his second run this preparation, he was smartly away and soon went to the front. He then travelled well, grabbed a break halfway down the straight and then went on to win easily, sprinting home in quick time (last 600m 33.69).
