The Godolphin-raced, Irish-bred gelding Duca Valentinois was quite impressive in winning here, his second stakes win in 28 starts to date. He was ridden quietly from his wide barrier (9) and settled at the tail of the tenhorse field, behind a good pace (first 800m 47.57). He got between runners on turning for home, went to the front at the 100m and then drew away to score comfortably. The favourite Passage Of Time had a good trip from his inside barrier (1) racing in fifth place on the rails, got along the inner at the home turn, took the lead shortly afterwards and battled on well for second after seeming to have had every chance. Unequivocal raced in second last place, went deep nearing the home turn and ran on nicely to take the minor placing. Mighty Lucky was midfield on the rails, eventually got along the inner at the 200m and then fought on for (3 lengths) fourth while the leading group, Isorich (eighth), Fabrizio (ninth) and Red Excitement (last) all faded after setting a solid early tempo.
