The John Thompson-trained filly Another Prayer followed her recent Newcastle Maiden (1850m) success with a good effort to score in a photo-finish here. She had a nice trip in third spot on the rails but was hemmed in on straightening before easing across heels at the 200m. She then switched back to the rails and came with a late bid to grab a narrow but good win, running the 1800m out well. She looks the makings of a very handy staying filly. The Gai Waterhouse-prepared frespanol travelled nicely back in fourth place, one off the rails, before moving up three wide rounding the home turn. He looked the winner when he took the lead at the 200m but was caught in the last stride for a nose second. *ANZ
