The filly Everage began smartly from her outside barrier and settled outside the leader (Power Alert). She worked to a clear lead passing the 200m then fought gamely all the way to the line to win narrowly, but impressively. Twilight Royale was slowly away but recovered to get a good run in fifth place on the rails to the turn. She moved though on the inside at the 300m then switched between runners to challenge at the 200m and fight on for a close second. Dowdstown Charlie was second last to the 600m before pushing out rounding the home turn. He then continued to run on well, making up good ground for a promising debut third. Aussies Love Sport missed the start and was last in the seven-horse field to the 600m where he was urged to improve. He gradually responded to riding, making up a lot of ground to finish fourth after racing reluctantly. *ANZ
