Sampeah put up a good effort to win here on debut. The Godolphin-raced colt was eased in the early stages by Blake Shinn and settled in sixth place, one off the rails. He commenced his run (three deep) approaching the home turn, was asked for his effort nearing the 200m and then responded well going on to score with something in hand by a length. He looks a good quality colt. The Ron Quinton-trained Let’s Make It Rain travelled well outside the leader, got to the front at the 250m and then battled on nicely for a good second, putting up a promising effort at his first start. Right Of Way, a filly from the Gai Waterhouse stable, began well and eased to race in fourth place, one out and one back. She put in a run on turning for home, challenged at the 300m and kept battling on to take third, beaten just over two lengths. Trust My Luck was back in fifth place, was held up in the straight before running on quite well in the closing stages for a promising (2.5 lengths) fourth on debut while Kiwi Boss led the field to the 300m before finishing (2.7 lengths) fifth.
