Godolphin’s highly regarded filly Ottoman made her debut to record a narrow but very impressive win. She was hindered in the early stages and settled second last in the 13-horse field. She was a distant tenth at the 600m, switched to the centre of the track at the 300m, sprinted quickly getting to second at the 100m and then finished too well to score by a head, putting up a very good performance. She looks a top class filly. Miss Idyllic enjoyed a good trip in fourth place on the rails, she got an inside run on straightening and hit the lead on passing the 300m. But she was overhauled in the last few strides for second, going well at her first Sydney start. Pride Of Dubai settled back in ninth place from his awkward barrier (9), before improving (wide with cover) rounding the home turn. He raced greenly as he switched wide at the 300m and then rallied in the latter stages, running on well for a late-closing third in a most encouraging debut effort and looks the makings of a smart colt.
