The Danny O’Brien-trained mare Angels Crown travelled comfortably in third place, but trapped three wide without cover. Glen Boss asked her to improve nearing the home turn before taking the lead at the 200m and she then drew away for a comfortable win. The first starter Cadillac Mountain, a three-year-old from the Peter Moody stable, was eased from his outside barrier (11) and raced at the tail of the field to the 600m. He was under riding at the turn but responded well in the straight and impressed with his late-closing second. His stablemate Rodway ($1.65 fav), the half brother, by Street Cry, to Makybe Diva, was given a nice run by Vlad Duric in fourth spot between runners. He was under pressure to improve at the turn, got to third at the 200m and battled on to finish fifth, beaten five lengths on debut. *ANZ
