Three-year-old colt Harvard Graduate put up a good effort to win. He was trapped wide in about sixth place, racing a bit keenly. He moved up wide rounding the home turn and was giving the leader about four lengths at the 250m, but he kept running on resolutely to grab a good long neck win at the post. The first starter, three-year-old filly Sassy Tycoon ($2.25 favourite) began quickly and went straight to the lead. She travelled nicely in front and looked the winner when she dashed clear on straightening. She held a good break until passing the 100m only to tiring in the closing stages for a sound second on debut. *ANZ
