The Mick Price-trained filly Hard Ruler put up a nice effort in winning here at her third race start. She began well, settled nicely behind the leader but was shuffled back on straightening. Taken deeper at the 200m she then responded to hit the front at the 50m before scoring a narrow but promising win. The Nigel Blackiston-trained/Arrowfield-raced filly Reality Show was slowly away, raced in last place in the small fivehorse field to the home turn and caught the eye with her late closing second, running the 1617m out well. It was a good effort on debut and she is a filly to watch.
