The David Vandyke-trained filly Momma’s Snitzel followed her debut second in a Goulburn Maiden (1000m) last month to score narrowly but quite well here. She began nicely from barrier two and went through to retain the lead on the rails with three other runners pressing her. She took a clear lead on straightening and then fought back to score in a photo. Heroic Belle raced outside the eventual winner, challenged her at the 200m and fought gamely to the post for second. Mossman’s Gold was back behind a large leading pack in about tenth place before switching deep on turning for home He then caught the eye making up a lot of ground for a late-closing third.
