First starter Marwood was smartly away and crossed to race outside the leader (Scatcat). He moved up rounding the home turn and raced clear on straightening and went away to score impressively. He handled the heavy going well and went to the post strongly - he looks very promising. The filly Cuban Gold raced in eighth place on the rails, following a moderate pace. She got an inside run on turning for home and went to fourth at the 200m and then battled on for second, beaten almost five lengths, but it was her first start and it was quite a good effort. *ANZ
