Godolphin Seymour Cup (LR)
The South Australian-trained Balf’s Choice, winner of last month’s Balaklava Cup (Listed, 1600m), took out his second country cup in recent weeks in scoring here. He settled well in fourth place (one out and one back) behind a moderate tempo, moved up nicely nearing the home turn, challenged at the 200m and fought on well in a keenly contested finish to score well. Radipole raced in sixth place, tracking the eventual winner, challenged at the 200m and kept battling on gamely for second. The well-supported Moss ‘N’ Dale travelled well outside the leader (Ecuador), got to the front on turning for home and fought on nicely for a close-up third. Ecuador was quickly away, went to the front and then steadied the pace. He was challenged nearing the home turn and battled on quite well under his top weight (60kg) for fourth.
