Lightly raced four-year-old Our Desert warrior, a brother to the six-time Group One winner Desert War, is very promising. Having only his second run since being unplaced in last year’s Victoria Derby (Gr 1, 2500m), he was wide early and soon crossed to take the lead. He travelled along well in front, then fought back well under his top weight (59kg) to win narrowly but impressively. Fiveyear-old mare First Class ticket raced outside the leader most of the way. She challenged strongly at the 200m and battled all the way to the post for a sound second. Entirely Platinum was fourth, one out and one back, before improving three wide rounding the home turn. He then kept fighting on nicely for a good third. *ANZ
