Lightly raced Team Hawkes-trained three-year-old Traitor ($3.75 fav) appreciated the step up to 1400m at his third start to score an easy two and half length win. He settled in a good spot, third on the rails, travelling comfortably before switching out nearing the home turn. He took the lead at the 200m and then drew clear for a strong win and looks quite promising. The Chris Waller-prepared Falago ($4 second fav) has now raced twice for as many seconds. He settled in fifth place, one off the rails, but was under pressure passing the 600m. He got a run through at the turn and improved to third at the 200m. He then continued to battle on for second, looking suited to longer distances. Man Of Melody led the field into the straight and held on for third, while Stable Surprise made good ground from ninth at the turn for fourth. The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt Rock Painter ($3.80), a $400,000 2012 Sydney Easter Sales purchase, was outside the leader to the turn but disappointed tiring to finish nine lengths eighth on debut. *ANZ
