Wee Biskit is a maiden on the flat but get her with fences ahead on a bog over longer distances and she comes into her own. Today was her third win and two of them have been Prestige Hurdle victories with The Great Northern Hurdle (4190m) and now the Wellington Hurdle (3400m). It took her fourteen starts to win as a jumper and now at outing twenty-seven she has three in the bank and more to come. She sat back today on a typical bottomless bog at Trentham and circled the field quickly before the end of the backstraight the last time. After taking the lead turning for home the mare simply swam clear to salute. Mahanadi showed some jumping form again at last and does like this track. He won the Grand National Hurdle (4200m) at Riccarton a couple of seasons ago so has the motor and stamina when right. Thatz David was a distant but brave third and he seems to have run in everything this year so far. The rest came in at intervals that got bigger with Thenamesbond not the same jumper left-handed. Superturf was thoroughly disappointing and after settling a clear last never ever looked a hope at any stage. The top two in particular can keep delivering this winter. Wee Biskit, a rising 7yo mare, will tackle the Grand National Hurdle at Riccarton and defend her Great Northern crown this year. Look out when she is tried as a steeplechaser with further to travel looks the logical assumption for next year as weight will stop the mare as a hurdler.
