Favourite Platinum Kingdom began well and raced outside the leader (Paraketo) to the home turn. That horse pinched a break on him on straightening but Platinum Kingdom kept responding to riding to grab a hard earned win at the post. Paraketo set a reasonable pace before taking a handy lead on turning for home, failing by only a long neck at the post. The filly Berenice was eighth on the rails to the 600m, she switched between runners after straightening and made good ground in the final stages to take third, without looking likely to trouble the first pair. It was a nice run, nevertheless. *ANZ
