ROSEHILL May 2

Inside Grass; Soft 6

13 Heats – 4 x 1030m (2 Open; 1 2YO; 1 Maiden); 9 x 900m (2 Open; 5 2YO; 2 Maiden)

Expect some nice late season winners to come out of this session.

EMIRATE (Chris Waller): Picked up on his ability in jump outs in Victoria and two trials since his switch to Sydney have labelled this Extreme Choice colt as a good prospect. Never off the bit to finish a soft fourth in his 900m heat won by the free running SHALAA GOLD (54.85; 34.59) with the feature being his surging work through and after the line that indicated how much he had in reserve.

FRANZ JOSEF (Gerald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou): Impressive winner of his first two starts early in the season and a strong win in the fastest open heat over 1030m (62.78; 34.66) points to this Snitzel 3YO making it in better grades. Travelled easily outside the leader and worked well within himself to take the upper hand in the closing stages. Like the form here as the G1 winner KOVALICA closed off nicely for a strong third.

LADY SHENANDOAH (Chris Waller): Unraced Snitzel filly went straight into the blackbook when she won her debut trial at this track last month and her impressive second in this 900m heat confirmed her potential. Settled under a hold in midfield before extending easily and taking good ground off the winner over the last 150m without any pressure being applied by James McDonald. Has the look of an early winner.

NAVY BLOOD (Richjard & Will Freedman): Impressive work from this developing 3YO to finish third in his 900m heat. Settled five lengths off the lead before tracking three and four wide from the 500m to easily make up ground and close off under a tight hold to be beaten less than a length. Could have won the trial if asked for a serious effort.

Other Chris Waller-trained youngsters to take the eye with their easy work included last start winner IMPERIAL FORCE, INDIGO STAR, GOOD SORT and LECONFIELD.

Heat winners with good prospects going forward include VIVEZZA, UNLEESHING and GRAND LARCENY.
