Newhaven Park has set the fee for Mo'Unga's first season at stud with the dual Group 1 winner to command $27,500 a visit.

The son of Savabeel was retired after finishing down the track in last year's Underwood Stakes, the 29th start in a career that generated five wins and 11 minor placings.

After winning the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at three, he returned as a four-year-old to defeat champion mare Verry Elleegant in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m).

Newhaven Park elected to race on Mo'unga until six years of age but is excited about finally getting him into the breeding shed.

"It's an exciting time for us at Newhaven Park, to be retiring a horse of Mo'unga's calibre to the stud," John Kelly said.

"His race record really showcases his soundness and durability.

"He's also a beautiful specimen, fetching $325,000 as a yearling (and) his physical certainly matches up to his racing credentials.

"We're very keen on New Zealand bloodlines here and we hope that his pedigree also offers a lot of options for Australian breeders."

Mo'unga joins existing stallions Cool Aza Beel and Xtravagant on the Newhaven Park roster.

Cool Aza Beel, who like Mo'unga is a son of legendary New Zealand stallion Savabeel, remains unchanged at $16,500, the same fee that Xtravagant will stand at after having his cut from $22,000.
