Gun Runner colt tops OBS

Sells for US$850,000 to Donato Lanni on day one of the sale on Tuesday

A colt by Three Chimneys Farm stallion Gun Runner (Candy Ride) topped Tuesday's opening session of the OBS Spring Sale when purchased for US$850,000 by Donato Lanni. 

The gray or roan colt, whose eighth in :10 flat was co-fastest at the distance at Monday's Under Tack session, is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Salamera (Successful Appeal), a half sister to champion Vivaldi Girl (Forest Girl). She was catalogued as Lot 118 from the draft of Eisaman Equine. 

Overall on Tuesday, OBS reported 181 horses sold from 225 offered for US$17,829,500 at an average price of US$98,506 and median of US$50,000. The 44 horses that went unsold represented an RNA rate of 20 per cent. During the 2020 renewal, which was delayed and held in June due to Covid-19, OBS sold 154 horses for US$13,209,500 at an average of US$85,776 and median of US$46,000. The RNA rate was comparable with 35 horses unsold for a rate of 20 per cent.
