Winning Return for Revitalised Symington

After a month away chasing the sunshine, Kyle Symington made his return last night at Gloucester Park, with Peligroso getting the win in race 9, giving the pair a victorious ‘welcome back.’

Peligroso, who had his last start for the stable back in January this year was sent out for a short break due to poor performance, and it appears the break did him a world of good, with the now five-year-old winning on return after leading all the way from barrier five in a mile rate of 1:58:7 over the 2130m trip.

21-year-old Kyle Symington who has flourished since heading to the stable of Ryan Bell made the decision to head off on a four-week adventure and with his last drives on Friday the 26th of May, he soon set off on an adventure with friends, experiencing all that life has to give outside of racing.

"A close mate was organising, so a handful of us school mates all went together,

"I remember Ryan Warwick and a few other trainers and drivers telling me to make sure you take a break sometimes to prevent burn out and have a freshen up just like we do with the horses."

Escaping the bitterly cold Perth winter for a while, Symington drove to Kununurra before crossing the border into the Northern Territory briefly, heading back to Derby and Broome, before finishing up the four-week break in Exmouth.

"It was a great trip, and the weather was perfect pretty much the whole trip, except for one day of rain."

Symington has returned refreshed and ready to get back into the swing of things, with six drives upcoming on Friday night at Gloucester Park.

"I enjoyed my time away, but it's good to get back into race driving and a routine again."
