Johns has a Flair for the trotters

The Nigel Johns team continues to fire, with the stable claiming the quinella in the first at Pinjarra on Monday in the trotter’s event. With Peachee hitting the front for Johns, it was looking good for the duo, but the in-form Luvaflair flew home for a strong win on the line for reinsman Donald Harper.

The charismatic chestnut five-year-old claimed her 16th victory from 81 starts, her seventh win this year so far.

"Like her mother, Luvaflair has high speed, and both can break a 27 quarter which makes her very dangerous sitting on speed." Nigel Johns said.

Peachee, who has been racing in very consistent form this season was staring down the barrel of her second win this season, narrowly going down by 2.5m to her stablemate in 2:01:3 over the 2185 mobile start.

No doubt their success could be heavily contributed to their travelling stablemate Kell Road Kid who was on babysitting duties for the fractious pair on Monday.

Johns and Woodley raced Luvaflairs dam, All Flair up until August 2016 when it was decided she would be put in foal to trotting stallion Love You (FRA). This mating resulted in the little chestnut filly, the first and only foal so far by the grey mare in 2017.

Johns and Woodley were given the opportunity to train All Flair after her first 21 starts for Frank Evans in Victoria. Making the move to WA in early 2012, she made her debut for the stable in June 2012 with a second placing at Gloucester Park at $117 starting odds for owner Kaye Boyd.

After heading back to the breeding barn in Victoria, the pair eventually made their way back to the West to the very capable hands of Nigel Johns in early 2021 after Luvaflair had her first start in Bendigo in December 2020.

All Flair made her return to the track in April 2021 where she finished in sixth places, narrowly beaten by her daughter by 6m who finished just one placing ahead of her. All Flair did finish in second place on May 10 and after three placings in just 15 starts before she was retired again in November 2021. All Flair is currently in foal to Majestic Son.

The team heads to Gloucester Park tonight with Kell Road Kid who starts off the 40m handicap over the 2503m standing start trip, having her 300th start for the stable.
