Seraphine set for sizzling WA debut

Victorian visitor Soho Seraphine is primed to make a winning debut in Western Australia when she lines up in The Sunday Times Pace (2130m) at Gloucester Park tonight.

The Michael Stanley-trained filly will use tonight's event as a lead up to next week's Group 1 WA Oaks (2536m).

The Betting Line filly will have a tricky task in front of her from barrier eight tonight, despite the first five placegetters of last week's Daintys Daughter Classic (2130m) being notable absentees from the race.

Stanley said he had no doubt Soho Seraphine would handle the travel west and put in strong performances.

"She's a really good filly," Stanley told The Trots WA.

"She's done a lot of travelling and the plane trip to Perth should be easier than the 10-hour float trip to Sydney.

"She's always raced at the elite end as a two-year-old and scored seven wins which are all at metro level.

"She's a New South Wales Oaks heat winner and then ran second in the Oaks itself.

"She's run well through the Vicbred series as well.

"She's a strong filly that can do a bit of work as well."

Purest Copper, a winner at three of her 13 starts, has drawn barrier one tonight and looms as one of the main dangers to Soho Seraphine.

Allaglow, Hunt The Magic and Flametree are among the rest of the opposition for Soho Seraphine.

Stanley said Soho Seraphine, who is staying at Bruce Stanley's stable during her visit, would be hard to beat tomorrow night.

"We're really confident with where she's at," he said.

"She's eating well and she's drinking well since she got there.

"The main thing is for her to have a look at Gloucester Park because it's a different track to what she's been around.

"We are still going there to try and win the race this week."

It shapes up to be a big night for Stanley, who has Len Smith Mile winner Rock N Roll Doo engaged in the Kilmore Pacing Cup (2690m) later this evening.
