More in store for Turn The Page

More feature race assignments could be on the agenda for WA Oaks runner-up Turn The Page, should she perform well in Friday’s Congratulations Suitor.com.au Shark Tank Investment Pace (2130m) at Gloucester Park.

The filly narrowly went down to August Moon in the WA Oaks earlier this month, before she scored a tough win at Gloucester Park last Saturday week.

Co-trainer Greg Bond said taking on the boys in the WA Derby or open age company in the Mares Classic were both potential options for Turn The Page.

"She's come through the Oaks jumping out of her skin," Bond told The Trots WA.

"We are leaving that option of the Derby or the Mares Classic open.

"If she goes like we think she can on Friday, then there's no reason we wouldn't look at those races."

Turn The Page, to be driven by Deni Roberts, will have a tricky task winning the race from barrier nine and key rivals Mighthavtime, Rocknroll Sass and Beyond The Sea drawing inside her.

Bond said he expected Turn The Page would have to "do it the tradesman's way" at some point of the event.

The Bond stable also have a strong hand in the $100,000 J.P. Stratton Cup (2130m), an important lead up to next month's TABtouch-WA Pacing Cup.

Minstrel (barrier three), Steel The Show (four), Galactic Star (six), Tenzing Bromac (eight) and Himself (10) are the stable's runners in the feature event, while Patronus Star was named first emergency.

Steel The Show was a Free-For-All winner two starts back, where he showed good gate speed from barrier five to get across Diego in barrier one.

Given Diego has drawn barrier one again, Bond said Steel The Show could look to come out hard again this week.

"It's a different kettle of fish this time, but at first look I certainly think it's something we'd look at doing again," he said.

"The others that are drawn out wider will have to make their own assessments.

"Himself is drawn to get a nice run on the back of Diego as well.

"They're all fit and ready to go."

Diego is the $2.20 favourite with TABtouch for the J.P. Stratton Cup, ahead of Steel The Show ($3.90), Magnificent Storm ($5) and Loyalist ($7.50).
