Floewriter aiming for Nugget start

Floewriter will be chasing a Golden Nugget spot by winning tonight’s Freshest Hits And Throwbacks On Nova 4YO Classic Consolation (2130m) at Gloucester Park.

The Aiden De Campo-trained pacer has produced two encouraging runs back from a spell, including a second to Rockmyster in the 4YO Championship Consolation a fortnight ago.

Floewriter, to be driven by Ryan Warwick, gets a golden opportunity to win tonight's event from barrier one and press his claims for a start in the Golden Nugget on December 15.

De Campo said he was confident Floewriter, a winner of the Sales Classic in 2021 as a two-year-old, would be able to lead and win tonight.

"He will be leading," De Campo told TABradio.

"He's run all his best races in front.

"He's a born leader.

"His work leading up to this has been as good as it has been this time in.

"Hopefully he can hold on."

Floewriter's hopes of winning tonight received a significant boost when Goodfellaz was scratched earlier this morning.

The son of Sportswriter is a $1.60 TABtouch favourite for the event, ahead Brickies Dream ($4.60), Major Perry ($10) and Paul Edward ($11) who are all drawn on the back line.

Despite the short quote and helpful barrier draw, De Campo said he was under no illusion Floewriter would have to perform to somewhere near his best.

"This is a really good race," he said.

"On a normal Friday night, you'd be confident going there and saying this is the best race on the night with the depth and evenness of the field.

"The barrier draw has fallen our way and makes him the horse to beat."

My Ultimate Ronnie remains a dominant $1.28 TABtouch favourite for the $125,000 Nova 93.7 4YO Classic (2130m).

The Jarrod Alchin-trained pacer will have his first start in Perth in the Group 2 event and has drawn favourably in barrier three.

Hoppys Way, who has drawn barrier one, is on the second line of betting at $6.50.
