Prentice out to end milestone week on a high

Fresh from recording his 1000th win as a trainer, Kim Prentice has a chance to continue a memorable week at Gloucester Park tomorrow night.

Kim Prentice reached the milestone with Crowd Control's victory at Bunbury on Tuesday.

He followed it up with win number 1001 and 1002 with Jimmy Rocks and Soho Santorini respectively.

Prentice joined Fred Kersley, Trevor Warwick and Jim Schrader having driven and trained 1000 winners.

Prentice said joining such company was something he held in high regard.

"It's taken a little while, but it's a high achievement for myself and everyone that's been involved," Prentice told TABradio.

"Crowd Control, the poor little bloke, was $1.04 and I was nervous as hell.

"I had my brother there and my eldest boy Shannon was there, so it was a great day."

Prentice now has his sights set on his 1003rd win when Soho Dow Jones lines up in the APG Pace (2536m).

The Golden Nugget placegetter, to be driven by the returning Mitch Miller, has drawn barrier one in the field of seven.

Soho Dow Jones finished third in a standing start as a $1.55 favourite at his most recent outing.

Despite being beaten, Prentice said he was pleased with how the five-year-old was going.

"His last start at Pinjarra was in a stand and it may not look good on paper," he said.

"He clocked his last mile that day in sub 1:54 which is low flying.

"Barrier one around Gloucester Park, you don't get it very often, so we will be taking full advantage of it.

"I'm confident he will run a really good race."

Prentice said he would keep Crowd Control, who also won at Gloucester Park on New Year's Eve, racing while he was in good form.
