Hayden Reeves and Stuart McDonald dominated the meeting, with the pair walking away with trebles in their respective fields.

Three-year-old Del Bocavista Bay won on return for trainer Hayden Reeves after four months away from the track.

The double westbred son of Bonavista Bay settled behind the leader throughout the 2265m trip, and with around 500m to go, Trent Wheeler pulled out, making it a two-horse race between the two favourites, Del Bocavista Bay and Princess Katie, with a 10m margin separating the two in the end, with a winning mile rate 1:58:8, the fastest of the night.

Michael Young and Stuart McDonald got the win in race two, with westbred mare Quintessence making it two from three at Albany since making her debut just weeks earlier.

The Steve Johnson bred and owned four-year-old was able to lead all the way from barrier three, with the $1.36 favourite claiming the win with a 1.2m margin over American Monarch.

David Goulden relocates to Albany each season from his home in Kellerberrin, and on Friday night the 63-year-old celebrated the win with Batavia Streamline who was triumphant in race three on the card.

Driven by Aldo Cortopassi, the $7.50 shot brought up her second win of the season in Albany, as well as her second win from just six starts since entering the stable of David Goulden.

The Beach Master went one better this week, getting the win in race four for trainer/driver Wes Andrews. After making his return at the start of the season after two-and-a-half years away from the track, the five-year-old westbred gelding brought up his third career win from 10 starts and just his seventh start for the stable.

Adding value to the early quaddie, The Beach Master saluted at $14 odds in what was a great finish, with the fast-finishing Koolbardi Navajo going down by just a head on the line, a quinella result for local connections on the night.

The locals continued their great form into race five, with the Adrian Shanks bred, owned and trained Rockandrollartist leading all the way for Trent Wheeler, giving Wheeler the second instalment of his driving double on the night.

Rocknrollartist is the 10th foal out of Artists Impression who has produced some very handy types, including Heez On Fire, an earner of over $287,000 in stakes and Papinik, a winner of 14 races from just 25 starts, with the double westbred son of Advance Attack earning connections just shy of $150,000 not including the impressive bonuses on offer for westbred and double westbred progeny in WA.

Gypsy Dragon made it two in a row in Albany, delivering Hayden Reeves his second training win of the night, as well as the second win in the cart for driver Stuart McDonald.

The $1.95 favourite started off the 30m handicap over the 2247m standing start journey, and after beginning safely, McDonald was able to work the six-year-old westbred mare to the lead and that's where she stayed, claiming the win with a 3m margin in the six-horse-field after four horses were late scratchings in the event.

Cracka Tinny has been knocking on the door of a win of late, and Friday night was the night for nine-year-old, breaking a 26-start losing sequence. Trained locally by relocating trainer Lang Inwood and driven by Ash Markham, Cracka Tinny came from behind to win by a 2m margin in race seven.

Cracka Tinny is the double westbred son of the late Allamerican Ingot USA.

In a bookend result, Hayden Reeves closed the meeting with a win, with the double westbred gelding Dilo Spirit claiming his maiden win.

Driven by Stuart McDonald, the son of Follow The Stars claimed the win at $8 odds, giving McDonald the final leg of his driving treble on the night, as well as giving Reeves a fairy tale result after having to scratch eight runners on the night due to mechanical issues.

It was 8 from 8 for westbred progeny on the night, with three of the eight by WA stallions.

The next meeting at Albany is a stand-alone meeting this Saturday night, February 10, with the $11,000 RWWA Westbred Feature for the entires and geldings highlighting the card.
