Mikayla Vlemmix, Brooke Strachan, Ruby Russell, Addison Sharp, Ruby Woodworth and Maisie Reeves debuted the pants on Saturday night at Bunbury, the opening meeting for their season and clubs first night back under lights since NYE 2021.
A successful night for Team Teal, both pony trot races went the way of the girls in the teal pants, with Ruby Woodworth successful in race one with her pint-sized pony Im The Mighty Middy, which in turn resulted in a trifecta finish for Team Teal.
Race two of the pony trots saw Maisie Reeves and She's A Lucky Pepper taking the win by a big margin, rounding out a fantastic night for the girls in teal.
The South West Pony Trots will be back at Bunbury on Saturday, February 17 for their next meeting, then again at Bunbury on March 2, followed by March 5 at Pinjarra for the Pinjarra Cup Day public holiday meeting, with the excited young female drivers hoping to continue to fly the flag for Team Teal.
South West Pony Trots WA have set up an online fundraiser and have already raised $155 of their $200 goal in less than a week.

Team Teal in WA was underway officially on Friday night, but it was Saturday night at Bunbury that the first of the wins came about, with Deni Roberts who was successful in race two on board the Bob Mellsop trained Louis Rouge NZ, who made it two from two in WA.
The race saw a Team Teal quinella, with campaign Ambassador Emily Suvaljko going down by a head on the line on the race favourite More Sass, for trainer Cody Wallrodt, who was having her first start in the state.
The campaign, spanning from February 1 to March 15 will see the reinswomen all over Australia wearing their teal pants to raise awareness and funds for gynaecological cancers.
The Team Teal campaign was created by Duncan McPherson OAM who lost his wife Lyn in March 2010 after an 18-month battle with ovarian cancer.
In WA, Emily Suvaljko and Deni Roberts are the driving ambassadors for Team Teal, with Jocelyn Young and Jemma Hayman the training ambassadors for the 2024 campaign.
