Victorian harness racing headquarters is located in the Central part of the state, which the Country Fire Authority has deemed at an "extreme" risk of fire on Saturday.

Following advice from Harness Racing Victoria's Extreme Weather Policy, a decision has been made to transfer the nine-race card to Lord's Raceway, Bendigo.

Bendigo is located in the Northern Country region, which is not currently regarded in "extreme" or "catastrophic" fire danger.

Race distances will shift to those used at Bendigo, with scheduled Melton events over 2240m and 1720m now 2150m and 1650m respectively.

Connections of horses now engaged at Bendigo can scratch penalty-free if they so desire.

Participants should take necessary precautions while traveling due to high temperatures and fire danger ratings in certain parts of the state. Please refer to the CFA website for more information.

Saturday night's meeting will be headlined by the Aldebaran Park La Coocaracha Trotting Mares Free For All.

HRV will continue to monitor forecasts and fire danger ratings across the state, and advice from the Victorian Government and agencies such as the CFA and Vic Emergencies, before making any further determinations on meetings across the long weekend period.

The Melton shift follows news of start times at Birchip (Sunday) and Horsham (Monday) being brought forward due to high forecast temperatures.
