Time for the girls to shine at the Curragh

Sunday sees the running of the 1000 Guineas for the 3yo fillies.

G1 over 1600m like the boys race and on good going with Dermot Weld's Tahiyra the 4/9 favourite with Chris Hayes on board the Aga Khan's lovely Siyouni filly.  It would be a great coup for Siyouni if his daughter could copy his son in winning the appropriate Guineas.

Meditate is an O'Brien-Moore No Nay Never filly who is at 9/2 and she will certainly appreciate the good ground.

Tahiyra's stablemate Tarawa is by Shamardal and could well be placed here and 10/1 makes that an attractive proposition.

Two other good races are the Tattersall's Gold Cup G1 over 2100m and the Lanwades Stud G2 for f&m over 1600m with 8 runners.

The Gold Cup has only 6 starters and it looks to be very close between Sir Michael Stoute's Bay Bridge with Richard Kingscote riding and French raider Vadeni with Soumillon riding for Rouget. Both are on 7/4.  The Aidan O'Brien trained Luxembourg on 11/4 is not without a good chance on 11/4 – Ryan Moore riding.

The Lanwades Stud (home of Alpinista) has Honey Girl for Joseph O'Brien on 3/1 with DB McGonagle riding and Insinuendo on the same quote for McCreery-McDonough.  However we like the chances of Jumbly 9/2 also for Joseph with Ryan Moore on board.
