As usual it is a very open contest with 29 runners lining up for the 1800m slog. Mutjabar is on 4/1 with Jim Crowley riding for William Haggas and the stablemate Protagonist is on 7/1 with Tom Marquand in the irons. We have a couple of very rough roughies that you could try in the multiples and they are Ouzo for the Osbornes Jamie and Saffie on 33/1 and Carolus Magnus on 40/1 for Andrew Balding and David Probert.
Earlier there will be the Royal Lodge Stakes for the 2yo c&g but only 4 runners which makes it a bit of a farce. Flying Honours, a son of Sea The Stars, is on 4/7 for Appleby-Buick and the main rival looks like being Greenland for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore on 3/1. He/s by Saxon Warrior, who was by Deep Impact.
There's a few more in the 2yo fillies race the Chevely Park over 1200m and that has a field of 10. Trillium is on 2/1 for Richard Hannon and Pat Dobbs with Meditate O'Brien-Moore on 9/4. Both are by No Nay Never. Lezoo 6/1 Beckett-Buick is by Zoustar so we have to give him a bit of a leg up.
The Middle Park is G1 over 1200m for 2yo colts and here our new friend Blackbeard is joint favourite on 2/1 for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore – another son of No Nay Never – with Marshman by Harry Angel for Burke-Lee. And we have to put a bit of the hard-earned on Mischief Magic for Appleby-Buick as he's by Exceed and Excel and on 11/4 and Persian Force has looked very promising and is on 11/2 for Richard Hannon and Rossa Ryan and he's by Mehmas.
The other great handicap the Cesarewitch will be run next weekend.
