Tingle Creek Upset

At Sandown (UK) the even-money favourite Shishkin was defeated.

This was something to note for the devoted followers of this brave horse but the fact is that the winner Edwardstone was far the better horse on the day.  Trainer Nicky Henderson is offering possibilities of Shishkin going up in trip but how far and how strong is the opposition at those longer distances?

Last year's winner Greaneteen ran his usual honest race for second and the winner, about whom there was some controversy with Alan King reluctant to put him over hard ground, fully justified his trainer's decisions and found the Sandown ground very much to his liking.  Jockey Tom Cannon rode a very well-judged race.

Less controversy in the Edward VII as Jonbon sailed home virtually unopposed in a 4-horse field.  As expected Boothill was the nearest home to the winner but that was 8 lengths away and then it was 16 lengths back to the next horse whoever he was.

In an earlier race we noticed the name "Dolphin Square" for one of the winners.  This is the name of the stables where Whistlejacket spent some time when very young so we have added him to the little black book!
