The seven-race card heralds an exciting schedule of racing for the tablelands venue in the coming months with five race meetings set down over an eight-week period.

The club's busy summer/autumn schedule features a host of prizemoney and racing opportunities for trainers and owners, culminating with the inaugural Southern Wildcard Qualifier as part of this year's Newhaven Park Country Championships.

Goulburn District Race Club CEO, Robyn Fife says it's great way for the club to start the year.

"We host racing on Monday, another two meetings in February and the same again in March," Ms Fife said.

The club is also thrilled to be back playing its part in the Country Championships 'dream becomes reality' showcase: "Showcasing great country racing is what Goulburn is renowned for!" Ms Fife enthused.

"Hosting the inaugural Southern Country Championships Wildcard on Friday 17th March as the concept builds to an exciting finale just two weeks later is another great opportunity for us to do just that.

"We expect Industry participants and racegoers alike to embrace what will be a huge day of racing here in the tablelands at the perfect time of year for us."

Despite not racing since December 16th, Goulburn trainers have kept the club's profile up over the holiday season claiming three of the last five TAB Highway Handicaps in town.

And it could easily become four this Saturday with Scott Collings (Mogo Magic - $2.30 favourite on TAB), Danielle Seib (Smokeshow-$15), Tash Burleigh (Iron Will-$7.50 and Smarter Than You -$101) all making the trek down the Hume to Royal Randwick for another Highway tilt.

Matt Dale, Tash Burleigh and Danielle Seib have all notched "highway" wins of late, highlighting the depth around what should be a strong Southern Country Championships Wildcard Qualifier in March.

Goulburn Race Club hosts racing this coming Monday and then again on Sunday 5th February, Thursday 16th February, Thursday 9th March and Friday 17th March.

Goulburn's track is currently rated a Soft 5 ahead of Monday's program.
