On the win: "It was super, wasn't it. We were super happy with his last run and coming into today, wet track, it looked a good race."

Plans: "Where he goes from here we're not sure. We'll just go home, see how he recovers and go from there."

Horse going better than ever?: "We're just happy we've got a nice horse to deal with. Hopefully he can win a couple more."

About the win: "Thanks very much to John Smerdon. He's been very good to me. I won the Cup race (Gold Coast Cup) for him a couple of years ago and I thought I could win it again today and this was my best ride. He had no weight, good wet track form. He was very good today."

On how the race panned out: "My instructions were, just give him a dig, let the speed go but don't get too far away from being competitive. I thought turning in I'm just going to angle him towards Steady Ready and then if she moves I'll move the other way. But it all worked out very well.

"He had no weight on his back, very fit strong horse. Great wet track form. Only bad luck was really going to beat him today."
