Chinny Boom to make most of favourable barrier draw

A nervous barrier draw wait for trainer Clinton Taylor ended when star Rockhampton filly Chinny Boom came up with a midfield draw in the Listed Mick Dittman Plate at Doomben on Saturday.

Barriers are vital at the 1100-metre start at Doomben and Taylor was feeling somewhat relieved after Chinny Boom drew gate 11.

"It was a nervous wait after she draw the rails last time and she's got 11 but she comes into nine without the emergencies," Taylor said.

"It's a big field and barriers are important at that start but just to be part of a race like this is a terrific thrill.

"It's not the ideal draw but it's not the end of the world either and she' s got enough speed to get across."

Chinny Boom has won six of her seven starts and is coming off a sensational victory over the David Vandyke -trained Beast Mode over 1050 metres at Doomben on April 8.

Taylor, who has a 32 per cent winning strike with 48 wins from 150 starters this season, admitted he was over the moon with Chinny Boom's latest win.

"Her last win was fantastic and she's now stamped herself as a genuine top three-year-old," Taylor said.

"The Mick Dittman is one of the better three-year-old races I've seen in Brisbane for a long time so she'll have to be at her best to win.

"We'll see how she handles this grade before we decide what's next with her."

Taylor is yet to win a Stakes race but finished second with Chinny Boom in the Listed Mode Plate in December while his former galloper Betterdeel finished fourth in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes in 2021.

Taylor also has a big opinion of Divine Purpose who tackles the Listed Princess Stakes over 1615 metres.

Divine Purpose has won four of her five starts including her first-up win last outing in the Capricorn Yearly Sales Classic at Rockhampton on April 1.

"The biggest win I've had so far was with Divine Purpose and I really like this filly," he said.

"She's done nothing wrong and has won four straight and 1600 metres really suits her.

"She'll run very well and if she keeps going she'll run in the Queensland Oaks.

"She's going to 1600 metres for the first time but I don't think she'll have any trouble running it."
