The 25-year-old has moved to Adelaide on loan to Jon O'Connor to make the most of her remaining six months as an apprentice.

"I actually flew over a good year or so ago and rode track work for Leon Macdonald and I really, really enjoyed it here," said Codi Jordan.

"The lifestyle, the track and everything it's great, so here was always definitely an option to come back to.

"I tested out the waters in Victoria, I spent three months there with the McEvoys - that was great it was honestly really good. I rode for stables like obviously the McEvoys, Maher's, Archie (Alexander), and it's just very, very competitive in Victoria so picked up a bit of momentum and then it would settle again.

"So it was hard to get the ball rolling there, so I thought I would come over here. It seems like the girls here get a really, really good crack.

"I have a 2kg provincial claim and 3kg metro claim still so I think here will be a really good spot to try and use it," she said.

Jordan conquered the racing ranks in Tasmania from the get-go. Two years after riding her first winner, she not only won the Tasmanian Apprentice Premiership for the second time, but also landed the overall Tasmanian Jockeys' Premiership during the 2021/22 season.

Like Tassie girls Siggy Carr, Raquel Clark and Teagan Voorham before her, Jordan is keen for metro exposure during her stint in Adelaide.

She'll kick things off aboard the O'Connor trained Exalted Kate at Balaklava tomorrow, and has six rides booked for Murray Bridge on Saturday.

New boss Jon O'Connor said Jordan joining the stable came as a nice surprise.

"It was a little bit out of the blue. I only got a phone call a few days ago.

"I think it's a good opportunity for Codi being early stages of winter and we haven't got a dearth of 3kg apprentices riding in the city at the moment in Adelaide, so it's a good opportunity for her and she should fit in well.

"She won the overall premiership in Tasmania which is a very good fete for any apprentice to do that, it's not often done so she's obviously got a very good CV, and rides very light which is most important, so she's probably got a good opportunity to further her career in South Australia," O'Connor said.
