Dubenenko to kick of spring in Cap D’Antibes

Dubenenko resumes from a short break and Chris Bieg said the 1100m in Melbourne where she has 57kg with Zac Spain in the saddle was a better option then staying at home over the 1050m at Morphettville where she would carry 58.5kg after the claim for Sheriden Tomlinson.

"Flemington was always the preferred option, kicking off against the fillies,'' Bieg said.

"The 1100m there probably suits her better, the big field should ensure a genuine tempo and that's something a horse like her needs,'' he said.

Bieg said Dubenenko goes to Melbourne in great shape and is buoyed by a smart piece of work at Morphettville earlier this week.

"She worked very nicely here on Tuesday morning,'' Bieg said.

"I think she's close (to her top), the trip over there will tighten her up a little bit as well. If anything I'm mindful about keeping weight on her. She's a lean filly.

"There is a filly's race at Moonee Valley on the 29th, Moir Stakes night, that's her early spring goal.

"If she runs well on Saturday, I'll lean to leaving her in Melbourne with that race in mind,'' he said.

There is plenty of SA interest in the race with Phillip Stokes saddling up impressive Dequetteville Stakes winner Stretan Angel who will be ridden by Jamie Kah, while former local Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans have Cinderella Stakes winner Show Royale engaged.

Murray Bridge trainer Kylie Schultz has Surprise Coming back in Melbourne in the Listed $175,000 Exford Plate over the 1400m journey with Daniel Moor riding from an outside barrier, Andrew Gluyas has booked Declan Bates to ride Party Princess in the Listed $175,000 The Sofitel over the 1400m trip while Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea have opted to stay in Adelaide with Jean Valjean.
