It's straight up picks and betting from The Melbourne Mail this week. Private Eye is a bet because the numbers say he is more likely than the odds available and the narrative weaved at the link above does little to dissuade.

He can even be backed each way at current quotes, clearing the path for a 'best bet' which comes up in the last. 

Meridius goes to post as a general 5/1 shot in the last of the day and he looks a better chance than that pitching up in much easier company than where he has plied his trade in recent times.

It is interesting to note that Meridius has twice improved sharply second up in as many attempts which makes him look fairly dangerous coming off a fresh performance that has him competitive here before considering that he is likely to leave it well behind now.
