Race 1 1400m Mdn SW
FLYING IMPALA $1.24F was backed as if unbeatable and was much too good. He found a comfortable lead and was never tested cruising in by 2.2L. He peaked off two placings here and another at Warwick Farm. UP TO ME $19 railed rearward until the turn and finished it off well. The local will be better for that and can find a win in the right grade. PAUJI POWER $26 sat on Flying Impala from the get-go but just battled home to place next, beaten 3.7L. TENACIOUS LADY $6.50 tailed the small field throughout but showed nothing when asked for an effort. Flying Impala looked the most likely winner on the day and didn't disappoint.
Race 2 1200m Mdn
The Neasham-trained STORMY REVOLUTION $9 was a big drifter but jumped well and led all the way. The filly was urged along from the 200m and was coming way on the line. FLYING NED sat outside the leader and his was a solid effort placing second, beaten 1.8L. RABAIRNEACH $3.60 wasn't far away next and had every chance after finding a nice trail. The Sydney-trained debutant WILLABELL was backed into $1.85F and not sure what to make of her plain effort. She settled beyond midfield and was behind traffic as they as they commenced the run home. She was ridden quietly from this point and drifted out of the race. Stormy Revolution had been well-trialled and wasn't beaten far at Scone on debut. She stripped fitter and the longer sprint was right up her alley. She's sure to go on. The first three in the run were the first three home. With the rail out 10m a pattern may have been emerging.
Race 3 2000m Cl1 SW
We fancied TELL THE FUTURE $4 on the more spacious track and he found an easy lead. He held a clear advantage at the 200m but for the first time today, dangers were swooping out wide. They were MARGARET's MISSILE $26 and the firm favourite REVELAIDE $2.70. The former had railed beyond midfield and the latter settled well back. Both presented in the middle of the track and rattled home. Margaret's Missile closing to within a half-length, with Revelaide a further length astern. Margaret's Missile was sharply better and looks like a coming winner in the right company. They spaced the others. Revelaide had too much to do on a track that suited a well-credentialled leader.
Race 4 1000m Open 2
ENTER THE DRAGON $1.30F and SERIAL OFFENDER $5.50 were the two most likely in the small field and ran the exacta in a tight finish SPRITZY LASS $7.50. The remaining pair were spaced. Enter The Dragon kept firming in the market while Serial Offender was a notable drifter. Enter The Dragon sat three wide on a hot speed and Serial Offender held the rail. Spritzy Lass couldn't muster early but was in range as they turned for home. The first two home engaged in a spirited battle with a wayward Enter The Dragon getting the nose in front right on the line. Spritzy Lass also wanted to run out in the stretch but really pinned her ears back in the final stages narrowly beaten. There was plenty of merit in all three performances. Enter The Dragon couldn't have had it tougher on debut. The resuming Serial Offender had pressure on her outside all the way and a win is around the corner. The local Spritzy Lass was mighty in defeat and will lap up 1200m or longer.
Race 5 1600m Bm 70
This was one of the more Open contests with MATLOCK $3.20 an easing favourite. Plenty wanted to be part of the early action with DONEGAL LIGHTS $12 and GOOD LIEUTENANT $5.50 finally paring off and they were 2L clear passing the 600m. The first three home —BY NINE $8.50, LICHESTER $8.50 and CYBORG $31, were all in a bunch at that point. Matlock lacked for early dash and tailed the field. Good Lieutenant burst clear at the 300m but was putting in the short ones at the 100m. By Nine just proved best of the closers with the post coming just too soon for Lichester. Cyborg stayed on well beaten 0.7L. Matlock was one-paced all the way and was well beaten. He'd recorded a grinding win here prior when coming off a 527-day break.
Race 6 1300m Open - Federal.
The three best supported in the market fought out the finish with the $3 favourite ROUGE LUNE getting the verdict by in a close go from DORAMI $4 and BON FRANKIE $5.50. STRATUM PRIDE was next home, 1.3L from the winner. Collett gassed Rouge Lune along to find the lead before Dorami paired up on his inside and edged ahead prior to the turn. Bon Frankie sat rearward on the paint. Rouge Lune and Dorami fought for ascendancy all the way down the straight. Bon Frankie has a wall in front of him and only found a split passing the 200m. He flew late. Stratum Pride was the widest of the turn and finished the race off well. As with the previous sprints, on-speed proved the place to be.
Race 7 1300m Cl1
It was a question of readiness with DECIMUS $7 first-up and he was presented forward enough to win the race. RAIDER EIGHTY EIGHT $20 responded to a brief freshen to place second beaten 0.7L, with FLYING FLOSSY $6.50 and the favourite HURRICANE ABLOWING $3.50 not far in the minor slots. The second favourite DEEP FINESS burnt plenty of juice to cross over from the outside gate but CHASING A QUID $8.50 was able to boot up on his inside, preventing him finding the rail. They burst clear. Hurricane Ablowing chased from third on the rail. The first three home positioned midfield. Deep Finess ran wide before the turn and was eased out of the race. Chasing A Quid was left a sitting duck for the swoopers. Raider Eighty Eight found the front at 200m but Decimus found a way through and despite wanting to run in did enough. Flying Flossy was doing her best work late in third. The bulk of the field were tightly bunched on turning but gaps did open suggesting most had a chance. The winner will race over further, and the race pattern played right into his hands.
Race 8 1000m Bm 60
ASTUNNER $3.80 raced favourite for a local barn on resumption, but a few were given a chance. It was a spaced finish with CAMERLENGO $6 getting the verdict by almost 2L from BEAU ROCK $10, with SASS 'N' CHEEK 2.6L from the winner in third. Astunner reared and missed the start by a few lengths. Cahill burnt across aboard Camerlengo, and he was 5L in front at the 600m galloping boldly. Beau Rock railed and led the chase and Sass 'N' Cheek was close-by. Camerlengo held a big margin at the 200m, and it was comfortable on the line. Bold Rock finished best of the chasers, but he and the rest, were essentially run off their feet. The winner hadn't been far away at Moruya first-up and firmed in the betting. Cahill's booking suggested he'd go well.
