CARLTON v WESTERN BULLDOGS

Saturday 13 May @ Marvel Stadium

The Eight is a nice spot to be but for the loser here, it might not be a current position after the siren.

At the very least the Bulldogs bring in winning form but it comes against three sides who won't be making their mark come September.

While Carlton's three recent losses are to sides in the Eight or playing well. The question is which form do you agree with?

The way the Blues played against Brisbane was a bit up and down. They were in it for some time then lost the midfield battle after the half and never got it back. That is best exemplified by the fact Cripps only had 17 while others got it more but were less influential.

He drives their passion and momentum and when it doesn't happen they go a bit rudderless.

That then leaves the big boys up front with less action and so McKay and Curnow had 2 goals collectively. They need four times that to be competitive.

However here they might get it in a more even match up of quality. The Dogs did well to get over GWS at Manuka in what never reached many heights.

Establishing the winning move before the last change, they held on rather than go away. Welcoming back Bailey Smith to his impactful best, Bontempelli's work is now finally paying dividends on the scoreboard and in the win column.

Reckon the current market best sums up what this game is like. You would notionally think the Bulldogs but it isn't necessarily right. They should win and there is a W/L/W/L/W type of history between them. On that count, the Dogs are due.

However you could easily see Carlton have one come out of nowhere. Just not sure who does it.

Match Selection: Western Bulldogs by 7 points

Suggested Bets: Bailey Smith 30+ disposals @ $3.00
