GWS are taking no risks with Toby Greene, pulling their captain out of their clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

The Giants superstar missed last week's game against the Western Bulldogs with an ankle injury but was named by coach Adam Kingsley on Thursday night.

However, GWS have opted to withdraw him from their squad for Sunday's twilight match against the Magpies.

Greene injured himself early in the round seven derby against Sydney, before propelling the Giants to a memorable victory over their cross-town rivals.

Third-year defender Cameron Fleeton will debut for GWS, with Isaac Cumming (calf) out of action.

Veteran midfielder Callan Ward has been named to play as the substitute.

Collingwood have made just one change after beating Sydney last week, losing versatile tall Billy Frampton (groin) to injury.

Livewire forward Jack Ginnivan returns to the Magpies' starting side after having an impact as the substitute last week.

Collingwood have named dynamic forward Ash Johnson in the ruck, with Mason Cox at full-forward as the pair eye a duel with Giants ruck Matt Flynn.

Pies captain Darcy Moore has been dealing with an infection in his elbow but coach Craig McRae is hopeful the star defender will be fit to take on GWS.

St Kilda have been dealt a blow for their trip to Adelaide, with star Jade Gresham failing a fitness test after copping a knock to his troublesome right knee during last week's win against North Melbourne.

First-year forward Anthony Caminiti comes straight back in for the Saints after serving a three-game suspension.

Crows defender Patrick Parnell is back for his first game since he was concussed in a dangerous tackle by Richmond's Nathan Broad in round two.

The incident cost Broad a four-match suspension.

Matt Crouch is in contention to be Adelaide's substitute for the second successive week, while Nick Murray (concussion) is sidelined.
