While the Giants season was always going to be about rebuilding and furthering the future, St Kilda has surprised with the Lyon inspiration and had to be thinking Finals until recently.

Then L/W/L/W/L and things have become a little more interesting. What is more scary for them is the defence suddenly lost its invincibility.

St Kilda had been priding itself on the lack of potency that its opposition was allowed. Then along came the trip to Adelaide. The Crows put 19 over their heads and that was gone.

When you are built around those defensive capabilities, when a side jumps you, what do you have left?

No doubt they need Max King back (and he is) but that might not be the easy fix. And given much of their own goal kicking is coming from the smalls, how will they win?

GWS ran into the season's most in form side away from home last week so there is little you can take from it. Plus they didn't have their best 23 on the park either.

For them to be a factor any time, Toby Greene has to play. They also need Tom Green and the bigger forwards getting a handful of goals. There just wasn't all that in play at the MCG.

With Saints just in a little hole at present, an upset of sorts is on the cards. They often match up well but with the game in Sydney, that provides the Giants with opportunity.

Lachie Whitfield might be the one Giant that Ross Lyon could let go as you can't tag Green, Kelly and him so let's take him for 30 plus.
